CIFOS opens registration for TRACKSIDE: Frames of Speed | Motourismo
Photographers will once again arrive in droves at Clark International Speedway this August as the Clark International Festival of Speed (CIFOS) brings back its motorsports photo and video contest. This year's edition gets an added boost through a collaboration with Sony Philippines, bringing one of the world's leading camera brands into an event that's all about capturing the speed and excitement of racing.
Now rebranded as TRACKSIDE: Frames of Speed, the program builds on the success of the inaugural CIFOS Shutter Session held last year, which attracted more than 70 photographers and content creators across its two events. It also marked the largest number of photographers ever officially accredited to cover races at Clark International Speedway, highlighting the growing interest in motorsports photography in the country.
Race weekends can be challenging even for experienced photographers. With subjects moving at high speed and only a split second to capture the shot, Sony's Alpha cameras have become a familiar sight at race circuits, thanks to features like fast autofocus, continuous shooting, and accurate subject tracking.
The event aims to have more people to experience motorsports photography firsthand, making it easier for students, hobbyists, photographers, and content creators to get started. For many participants, this could be their first time shooting a race and perhaps the first step toward a future career in motorsports media.
According to CIFOS Organizing Director Michaelson Lim, "CIFOS hopes the program continues to build a community of photographers who are interested in documenting Philippine motorsports while giving participants access that is rarely available during race weekends."
With a registration fee of P500 per event, participants may choose to cover either-or both race weekends:
August 2 - Two-Wheel Race
August 23 - Four-Wheel Race
All registered participants will also get to attend a free morning workshop conducted by international motorsports photographer Matthew Romualdez. The session will focus on the fundamentals of motorsports photography and is intended to help newcomers gain confidence shooting around the race track.
Aside from official trackside access and the photography workshop, participants will compete for a range of prizes that include Sony premium items, giveaways and raffle prizes, P10,000 worth of karting vouchers, and custom trophies made by Cars & Prints.
Those interested may scan the QR code found on the official event poster, access the registration link on all CIFOS social accounts or send their details to cifos.shuttersession@gmail.com.
